AB 942 IS FOR BAD PUBLIC POLICY.

IT’S UNFAIR, UNCONSTITUTIONAL, AND UNACCEPTABLE.

THE PROPOSED BILL ALLOWS FOR THE BREACH OF ROOFTOP SOLAR CONTRACTS FOR 2 MILLION SOLAR CUSTOMERS INCLUDING MILLIONS OF WORKING FAMILIES.

After narrowly passing in the State Assembly, AB 942 is now headed to the State Senate’s Energy, Utilities and Communications Committee.

A diverse and growing coalition—led by climate and environmental justice advocates and joined by affordable housing developers and realtors—is gaining momentum to defeat this harmful bill. But we need your voice to make it happen.

Now is the time to act.

Please contact the following State Senators by phone, email, or social media. A quick call or message can make a decisive difference.

The bill is expected to be heard by the committee shortly after the July 4th holiday.

Take action today. Let’s defeat this bill in committee.

AB 942 TALKING POINTS. IT’S BAD POLICY BECAUSE IT…

Retroactively breeches rooftop solar contracts on 2 million homes, apartments, schools, farms, and businesses, even with amendments.

Erodes home values including for 600,000 low- and moderate-income families.

Costs consumers upwards of tens of thousands of dollars upon sale of a home or business that have solar loans or leases.

Will increase utility bills on renters when, through no fault of their own, their apartment building changes owners.

Fails to address rising utility costs.

Burdens California real estate sales.

Undermines future clean energy and electrification efforts by showing that California's promises cannot be trusted.

Has a broad and diverse coalition opposing the bill. 200 environmental, consumer, community, environmental justice, farm, realtors, and business groups oppose AB 942 as amended.
